Very Terrible, The Lightest Torment for the Inhabitant of Hell

The Lightest Torture for the Inhabitants of Hell

The Lightest Torture for the Inhabitants of Hell

Is hell eternal and immortal? surely Hell is one of the eternal places created by Allah in the hereafter. Hell is reserved for human beings who violate the command of Allah SWT.

People who do good deeds during their life in the world will be rewarded in the form of heaven in the hereafter, on the other hand, people who during their lives are full of evil will receive the punishment of hell fire. Heaven and hell were created to motivate people to worship and abandon the prohibitions of Allah SWT.

In the Qur’an and hadith it is explained that a servant will receive retribution for his deeds done during his life in the world.

In hell, torment will be received according to the sins already committed. If the sins committed are great, then the punishment is also great. However, if the sin committed is small, it will get a light punishment as well.

Prophet Muhammad SAW came as a bearer of good news and a warning. The good news is that the pious and pious will get the reward of heaven. On the other hand, those who oppose and violate the command of his Rabb will go to hell.

Hell is a place provided by Allah SWT for his people who always commit sins. Those who have bad deeds heavier than good, will be placed in hell. Just like heaven, hell also has 7 levels.

Allah SWT has explained the picture of the torment in hell. Various kinds of torment given to the inmates of hell. From the heaviest torture, to the lightest. Well, this time we will discuss the lightest torture.

from An-Nu'man bin Basyir he said, "The Prophet said,‘ Indeed, the lightest torment of the inmates of hell is a person who wears a pair of clogs made of fire until his brain boils as boiling water is being boiled ”. At that time the person thought that he was the one who received the most painful torment, even though he was the inhabitant of hell with the lightest torment. (HR Muslim).

Although it is clearly announced how painful the punishment will be, but still, people are not afraid to sin. In fact, sometimes some are even proud of the sins they have committed.

The person who will receive the lightest torment in hell is Abu Talib, the uncle of the Prophet. He died before embracing Islam, but he supported and defended Rasulullah in carrying out his da'wah.

In another hadith it is also mentioned that the Prophet SAW hoped to give his intercession later on the Day of Judgment for Abu Talib, but in this case the scholars have different opinions: some say the hadith contradicts the words of God surat al-Mudatsir verse 48 which means, "Then it is useless again for them the intercession of those who intercede ".

According to Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani this is an exception for Abu Talib. In the book of Fathul Bari it is explained that the meaning of Surat al-Mudatsir verse 48 is different from the hadith above. The meaning of the previous verse is to be removed from hell, while what is in the hadith means to be given relief for torment

There are some hadiths that say that the lightest punishment for the inmates of hell is to wear sandals that can both boil the brain. Here are some hadiths that support the lightest torment in hell

Abu Said Al-Khudrir.a. has narrated a hadith as follows:

Meaning: Rasulullahﷺ said, "Indeed, the lightest torment for the inhabitants of hell is that he wears sandals from the fire that can boil his brain because of the heat of the two sandals." (HR. Muslim).

In another hadith Rasulullahﷺ also said, which reads:

Meaning: “The most tormented inhabitant of hell is Abu Talib. He wears sandals that can both boil his brain. " (HR. Muslim).

The friend of Nu'man bin Basyir even once delivered his sermon, he said that he had heard the Messenger of Allah say,

Meaning: "Indeed the lightest punishment for the people of Hell on the Day of Resurrection is a person who is placed on the ends of his two heels two coals of fire that can boil his brain." (HR. Muslim).

In addition, Nu'man bin Basyir also narrated another hadith,

Meaning: The Messenger of Allah said, "Indeed the lightest punishment for the people of hell is that he wears a pair of sandals and both are made of fire that can boil his brain like a firebox that can boil it. Others see that his torment is heavier than him, and indeed he has the lightest torment." (HR. Muslim)

May we all be given the strength to always worship Allah swt and stay away from all that He forbids and may we all be saved from the torments of hell.... amen
