ETHICS TOWARDS ILL PEOPLE IN ISLAM

ETHICS TOWARDS ILL PEOPLE

Muslimcreed - As a Muslim, if any of our relatives or other Muslims are sick, we are encouraged to visit them. below we will briefly discuss ethics towards the sick.

Ethics towards people who are sick are as follows:

1. It is recommended for people who believe in Allah, especially for people who are sick, to increase the remembrance of death and prepare for life after death by doing good deeds and repentance.

2. It is recommended again to visit people who are sick, even though people who are sick are our enemies (to attract love and idkholussurur / make the enemy's heart happy so that it becomes a cause to eliminate hostility) or visit people who do not believe or are non-Muslims if not including infidels harobi (infidels who are hostile to Islam) and are neighbors or relatives.

3. And it is recommended that when visiting someone who is sick, it should not be too frequent or too long. It is feared that it will be inconvenient or disturbing to people who are sick, except for relatives or friends who will take care of or care for people who are sick so that people who are sick feel happy and comfortable when accompanied and cared for by that person.

4. If there is hope for the sick person to recover, then it is advisable to pray for the sick person to get well soon. The most important prayer to be read for those who are sick is the following prayer:

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

Because there is a hadith received from Ibn Abbas which means: "Whoever visits a sick person who is not dying then reads a prayer:

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

then Allah will heal him again as before.”

5. But if the person who is sick is seriously ill (according to the habit of the sick person there is no hope of recovery) then do not pray to get well again, but must be motivated with gentle words so that the sick person will repent and want to be healed. bequest to his family. Among the wills of a sick person to his family is to be patient in caring for him while he is sick.

Be patient when left to die, be patient in disaster, or calamity and must be more serious in wills to his family so that they do not cry for it when they die or die. Because there is an explanation from the hadith "the corpse is tortured because the family cries for it". And motivate the family to be kind to Allah. That Allah will forgive his sins and Allah will have mercy on him.

6. Allah hates people who are sick to complain or complain about their illness to others, except to their friends to ask for their prayers or to doctors to treat their illnesses, then that is okay.

7. And it is makruh for a sick person to expect to die without fear of slander (danger) against his religion, he hopes to die only because he is afraid of danger to his body and property. But if he is afraid of danger to his religion, then circumcision expects death.

And it is also recommended to expect death for those who seek martyrdom, for those who love Allah and want to meet Allah soon, for those who hope to die in a noble place such as in the holy land of Mecca or in the area of the pious.
