This exciting news has left many university students wondering about the exact details and requirements for applying to the program, so we’re happy to provide those here. What is the Islamic bank program?
The Islamic Bank Program is a two-year intensive business course taught at a handful of universities across Canada. The course is designed to teach Muslim Canadian university students how to create and operate their own businesses, while adhering to the principles of Islam. The first class was cancelled this year due to low enrollment, but they plan on running it again next year with more promotion, so stay tuned! The goal of the program is to reduce dependence on Western banks by teaching Muslims how to finance themselves from the ground up. It offers careers such as banker, economist, investor, or accountant.

How does it work?

First, we want you to know about our application process: we require a CV and cover letter, as well as two letters of recommendation, which are due by November 1st. Upon completion of these steps, our recruitment team reviews all submissions and decides on candidates who match our requirements. The interviews take place between January 20th and February 4th.
We'll let you know what day your interview is on before December 1st. All interviews are 30 minutes long, so please keep this in mind when arranging your schedule!

What are the benefits?
The four-year BA Hons programme is designed to equip graduates with a range of skills that can be applied to careers in finance, accountancy and international business. It will also offer a holistic approach to learning about Islam and Muslim communities. The course has been designed to make it easier for UK universities to provide more opportunities for Muslim students, who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Who is eligible?
University students are eligible to apply and must be at least 18 years old. Students should have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as an above-average GPA from their last year of studies. Applications are open from August 1 to October 31, 2021.
When will the program start?
The 20-unit degree will start this coming fall semester. The first two years of the degree are focused on Arabic, Islamic law and theology. Students who want to specialize in a field like finance or accounting can take additional courses in those areas during their final three years of study.
