The Heart Touching Story of the Necklace of Sayyida Fatimah Zahra

Muslim Creed - The necklace was gifted to Sayyida Fatimah Zahra (the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad and his first wife Khadija) by her father when she was very young. The necklace consists of three hundred and five gems; four hundred rubies, one diamond, five emeralds, seven pearls and nine sapphires.

Sayyida Fatimah Zahra birth

On the 20th of Jumada al-Ula in the year 599 AD, a blessed child was born in Mecca. She was named Fatimah, which means the one who abstains. Her father was Abu Bakr, the first caliph of Islam, and her mother was Asma bint Umais. She was raised alongside her four brothers: Abdullah, Muhammad, Qasim and Tayyib.

At a young age, Asma bint Umais gave a necklace to little Fatimah and said that one day it would be worn by a woman who loved God and was loved by God. On her wedding day, when she was married to Ali ibn Abi Talib, she wore that necklace. The necklace has been in possession of women following her until today. Many people don’t know but you can buy replica’s at souvenir shops in Iran or Lebanon (they're fake).

The necklace of Sayyida Fatimah Zahra was given to her by her husband, Imam Ali. It is said that this necklace was made of gold and silver, and it was very beautiful. It is also said that when Sayyida Fatimah Zahra wore this necklace, she would feel a great sense of peace and calm. This necklace was always with her, even during her last days on Earth.

On one occasion, Imam Ali was away on a journey and he took the necklace with him. The Prophet’s household was very concerned that they wouldn’t be able to see Imam Ali due to his long absence. To relieve them of their worries, Sayyida Fatimah Zahra told her maid to fetch her some wool. She then washed it in water until it was white as snow.

Sayyida Fatimah Zahra meeting with Ali

Sayyida Fatimah Zahra was the only child of Prophet Muhammad and his first wife, Khadijah. She married Ali, the son of Abu Talib, in Makkah when she was just eighteen years old. The couple had four children together: Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab, and Umm Kulthum.

During her childhood, Fatima played and helped Khadijah around her household. Khadijah taught her all about prayer and about being a good wife, mother, and Muslim. When Fatima was still a child, she gave birth to Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Qasim. Sadly Qasim died shortly after his birth. During these times Prophet Muhammad was in another home for days or weeks at a time leaving Khadijah with little food or water to feed or provide for herself and little Qasim. Prophet Muhammad would then return home from his travels to find them both in perfect health despite not having any resources available to care for themselves during that time period at all.
